A partnership formed by Dallas-based Lincoln Property Co. and MetLife earlier this week closed on the $2.7 million purchase of Hope Gardens property located next to Row8.9n and across from the Nashville Farmers’ Market, The Tennessean reports. Bank of New York Mellon, the global investment manager and back-office administrator, will break ground this morning on an expansion of its local processing center on Brick Church Pike, a project it says will create 500 construction jobs. BNY Mellon announced plans to build on to its Nashville facility last summer and had initially expected to break ground earlier this year.
Department store chain Dillard's said Monday it will shut down its Nashville distribution facility this summer, a move that will cost 125 people their jobs. The facility on Brick Church is the victim of a shiny new warehouse near company headquarters in Arkansas, but many of the affected workers may be in luck. Saks is hiring big time in La Vergne.
