NY taxi officials give Altima nod
The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission says cab drivers can now use a regular Nissan Altima to criss-cross the Big Apple. Nissan, which two months ago was tapped to supply the next-generation taxi fleet, already has a number of hybrid Altimas on New York's streets.
Nissan to build Leaf motors in Decherd
Nissan will add 90 jobs and an electric motor assembly line at its plant in Decherd. The new assembly line for the Leaf components will fit into 100,000 square feet of the 1.2 million-square-foot plant.

Leaf gets pricier
Nissan North America is hiking by 7 percent the base price of its 2012 Leaf electric car, which will come with more features than its first-generation predecessor. The company also will roll out the car in a dozen more states by the end of the year.

Nissan announces bottom pricing for the Versa sedan
Nissan on Monday announced the pricing for its newly redesigned Versan sedan. The base-model price for the car — whose older version has sold 46,000 times so far this year — comes in at $10,990.
Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced pricing for the all-new, totally redesigned Nissan Versa Sedan – with the lowest starting M.S.R.P.* in America** at just $10,990. Rather than a stripped-down entry-level vehicle at that price, the Versa Sedan 1.6 S 5MT includes standard air conditioning, 6-way adjustable driver's seat, AM/FM/CD/Aux-in audio system and an advanced 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with dual injector system and twin Continuously Variable Timing Control (CVTC). Versa Sedan fuel economy is estimated at 33 mpg Combined with the CVT transmission.

Nissan's June sales rise
Automaker Nissan saw a healthy increase in its June sales figures, reported this morning.
Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported June U.S. sales of 71,941 units versus 64,570 units a year earlier, an increase of 11.4 percent. Nissan Division sales increased 16.7 percent for the month at 65,659 units. Sales of Infiniti vehicles decreased 24.3 percent from the prior year, to 6,282 units.
For 2011, NNA sales have increased 14.7 percent to 504,973 units. Nissan Division deliveries are up 16.5 percent, while Infiniti sales are flat in the first half of the calendar year, against the same period in 2010.
