Amphitheater work to continue via $2.5M permit

Metro Government has landed a permit related to its riverfront amphitheater project.

Work on the foundation and shell of the facility, the address for which is 310 First Ave. S., has been completed.

The Nashville office of Skanska USA Building Inc. will handle the job, with the permit valued at about $2.5 million.

Skanska preps for Abe's Garden work

On-site work is ready to begin on Abe’s Garden, the Alzheimer’s care facility to be located on the campus of Park Manor Senior Lifestyle Community.

Metro has issued a permit, valued at $2,000, to allow for the placement of a construction office trailer on the site, the address for which is 115 Woodmont Blvd. Skanska USA Building Inc. will serve as general contractor. Nashville-based Manuel Zeitlin Architects has designed the building, with the Vanderbilt Center for the Quality Aging and the Vanderbilt Medical Center collaborating on the project.

Full-scale construction is expected to start in April.

Meharry residential project now underway

A permit has been issued to allow construction to move forward on a residential building on the Meharry Medical College campus. To be located at 1809 Morena St., the building is the first in a cluster of residential structures Meharry is having constructed (read more here). Skanska USA Building Inc. has the contract, valued at about $3.75 million.

Music City Center construction manager joins Skanska

Global construction player Skanska has hired Kristen Heggie to be a project manager in its Nashville office. A Vanderbilt graduate, Heggie previously spent more than five years with the Nashville Convention Center Authority, where she managed construction logistics related to the building of the Music City Center. Prior to her time with the Convention Center Authority, Heggie worked at InfoWorks.

Meharry project moves forward

The local office of Skanska USA Building Inc. has a secured a permit to demolish a small residential building on the Meharry Medical College campus.
