The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports today that LifePoint Hospitals won't get a deal to buy Princeton Community Hospital in West Virginia:
W. Fred St. John, president of the PCHA Board of Directors, said the board had discussed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PCH, Bluefield Regional Medical Center, LifePoint and West Virginia Hospitals. St. John asked for a motion to enter into an MOU, but nobody on the board offered to second it. St. John then asked for a motion not to proceed, but board member Robert Holroyd, a local attorney, pointed out that he could not ask for a negative motion. Since there was no second, the MOU motion died. Members of the audience applauded, adding “Thank you” and “Thank you board,” after the MOU motion died.See previous coverage here and here.
