HCA teams up for Florida trauma network

HCA Inc. is teaming up with the University of South Florida to create a network of trauma centers from South Florida to Jacksonville, Tampa Bay Online reports:
USF will help HCA recruit doctors to staff new trauma centers at five HCA hospitals. As the centers begin operating, HCA will send USF detailed data about procedures and results. USF will pool and analyze that data to help HCA figure out how to improve and standardize its care across the five centers. "It's an opportunity to make Floridians safer," said Stephen Klasko, dean of the USF College of Medicine and CEO of USF Health.
HCA is footing the bill on the project, which includes about $20 million in equipment and construction costs and $7 million in annual physician compensation.
