Brentwood-based call center manager Sitel said Friday that Peter Shea has been added to its board. Shea, a former president of Icahn Enterprises and an exec at Heinz among other things, will be the representative of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, a significant investor in Sitel.

Call center manager Sitel says it is hiring 125 people to work from home in the Omaha area for a national telecommunications client. The company's plans there are the latest in a series of expansions around the country.

Milt Capps has taken another look at Middle Tennessee's need to attract, cultivate and retain high-end engineering and IT talent. He reports on the conversation at a recent meeting hosted by Vanderbilt professor Germain Boer, where Shareable Ink CEO Stephen Hau said Nashville has all the ingredients for high-tech success in health care, "except for the engineers."

Many of Hau's comments seem to translate into a pressing need to create a critical mass of superior engineering talent that can be virtually, if not literally under one roof in Nashville, close enough to network, spark ideas and encourage one another onward to address tough engineering problems. He made clear he's thinking-through the matter with others and is likely to take some collaborative action, at some point.

Data center operator Peak 10 says it will expand its operations in Cool Springs by 15,000 square feet. The facility will be the third in the Nashville area for Charlotte-based Peak 10 and adjacent to another site on Duke Drive. The company's other local site is on Commerce Way in Brentwood.
