Renaissance hotel building lands upgrades

The Renaissance Nashville Hotel building is slated for about $1.6 million in upgrades, according to Metro Codes Department documents.

Steelhead Building Group will oversee the effort, which includes a renovation of part of the tower’s third floor and work on the upper six floors of the hotel.

REIT refinances Renaissance loan

Texas-based Ashford Hospitality Trust said it has closed on a $113 million loan that is secured by downtown's Renaissance Hotel and one of its properties in New Jersey. The move lowers Ashford's interest rate and frees up almost $30 million for capital spending. The REIT teamed up in early 2011 with Prudential Real Estate Investors to acquire the Renaissance and 27 other hotels.

Flood-detoured convention returns to Nashville

The Association of Millwork Distributors — which moved its 2010 convention to Charlotte after last year's flooding damaged the Opryland Hotel — is bringing its annual convention to downtown Nashville in 2011. The association has selected the Renaissance Hotel as its host hotel and the Nashville Convention Center for its exhibition, preferring the proximity to downtown's music entertainment venues.
