Ex-HealthSpring president named to board of specialty care venture

A California-based specialty care provider has picked Mike Mirt, the former president of HealthSpring, to join its board of directors. New Century Health execs say Mirt's insurance industry experience — before helping lead HealthSpring, he also worked at AmeriChoice and Cigna — will help them build their client roster. Mirt left HealthSpring after the company was acquired by Cigna for almost $4 billion. New Century, which looks to improve quality and efficiency in the delivery of care, works with more than 2 million insureds around the country.
