Ex-Cracker Barrel CFO hooks up with Dobie Media

Milt Capps checks in with an update on Bruce Dobie's efforts to build his Eviesays event listing service. Now helping that endeavor is Forrest Shoaf, a veteran of the local finance scene and most recently CFO at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. Shoaf has invested in Eviesays parent Dobie Media, which will soon launch a formal funding round.

eviesays strikes two deals

Locally based event calendar developer eviesays has inked agreements to power those features for the Web sites of KALB News Channel 5 in Alexandria, La., and KSTU Fox 13 in Salt Lake City. The deals push to more than 40 the number of TV stations using the eviesays calendar. Overall, the company now has some 450 media partners using its calendar.
“We are finding that TV stations are extremely receptive when it comes to adopting our calendar technology,” said Bruce Dobie, President and CEO of Dobie Media Inc., parent company of eviesays. “Everyone wants to know what’s going on around them. The eviesays calendar provides users with the who, what, when, and where of local events.”

Evie has your sports info

Nashville-based online listing service Evie Says hooked up with Halifax-based Sports Direct Inc. to run calendars listing info for "virtually every major professional game being played in the United States."
Dobie said that one of the immediate beneficiaries of the sports information will be eviesays' 400 media partners. Eviesays powers event calendars on over 400 media websites across the United States. Of those, most are newspaper websites and the rest are TV and radio station websites. "Working in partnership with traditional media is what we're all about, and providing yet more content to eager viewers will make our partners very happy."

eviesays inks Va. deal

The event listing service run by former Scene editor Bruce Dobie has teamed up with Richmond's CBS affiliate, WTVR CBS 6.
The agreement means that the Richmond-based television station will adopt the eviesays calendar technology at its website. The calendars, which will be privately branded to have the look and feel of the WTVR website, will enable visitors to find, browse, and interact with the hundreds of thousands of event listings nationwide residing at the eviesays.com website.

Event calendar service inks national deal

Eviesays.com, the event listing Web site run by former Scene editor Bruce Dobie, has hooked up with Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., a Birmingham-based publisher with a presence in more than 150 communities from the Northeast to Florida and Oklahoma.
“When we presented this opportunity to our sales staff, the overwhelming response was, ‘Why wouldn’t we want to be doing this,’ ” Muldrow said. “We view our relationship with Dobie Media and eviesays as an opportunity to expand services to our readers and communities.”
