Franklin-based Ryan Search & Consulting has added Madeline Walker Garvin to its ranks as it looks to capitalize on the continued growth in the economy. Garvin comes to the firm after working as executive assistant to Chrissy Haslam. Before that, she was director of customer experience for Taylor Pearl and interned for Nordstrom, Parthenon Publishing and Pearl Point Cancer Support.
Over at Southern/alpha, Kelley Boothe has spent some time with Matt Tant (pictured) and the team leading Relode, which is trying to reinvent the way search firms do business. In addition to letting recruiters flaunt their specialties to companies in need of them, Relode also features a social enterprise element.
Here’s how it works. The recruiters name their own price point and have their own rating, much like an Uber driver. If companies need a top-notch, very experienced candidate, they might choose a more experienced, more expensive recruiter. However, there are many situations where companies only need a recruiter for one or two years of experience to help fill that job.
Franklin-based Ryan Search & Consulting has added two recruiters to its staff, which now numbers six. John 'Jay' Conner comes to the firm as senior consultant and will focus on the health care sector while Virginia 'Graham' Manning is a new consultant. Firm founder Dan Ryan says the hirings were needed in the face of projects "that have spiked at three times their normal rate."
Ryan Search & Consulting has added to its board of advisors life sciences specialist George Dunbar. A Franklin entrepreneur and management consultant, Dunbar runs The Dunbar Group and is a venture partner at Arboretum Ventures. Ryan Search & Consulting Principal Dan Ryan said Dunbar will help his team find and place leaders for the firm’s life sciences clients. Dunbar has in the past been involved with local testing venture Diagnovus as well as fluorescent labeling company Quantum Dot and others.
