Bovenders fund $1M Duke scholarship
Jack Bovender, the retired chairman and CEO of Hospital Corporation of America and his wife Barbara will fund a $1 million Duke University scholarship to honor the first five African-American graduates of the prestigious Durham, N.C.-based school.
Bovender (pictured here), who has served on Duke's board of trustees since 2007, is a Duke graduate, having graduated with the five in 1967.
Last December, the Bovenders established a bequest of $25 million to support Duke's Fuqua School of Business, Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and the School of Nursing.
