BNA eyes new flights for 2013
Last year was major for Nashville International Airport, as the facility added flights, finalized projects and improved its parking options for passengers. (See various Nashville Post stories here.)
As to 2013, look for BNA to add flights. Rob Wigington, Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority president and chief executive officer, stopped by our offices Tuesday and noted his team is working toward that end.
"There are still [U.S.] cities we need flights to," said Wigington (pictured). "San Francisco is a big one. It's a market that could be served. It's doable."

BNA passenger growth slowed in January
Nashville International Airport saw a shade under 700,000 enplanements and deplanements last month. That was up 2.3 percent from a year ago, a growth pace that's a good bit slower than the year-to-date pace of 3.5 percent. Cargo shipments during the month fell almost 10 percent, but it's worth pointing out that January's numbers for both types of traffic are a good bit lower — and often lumpier — than most other months.
BNA officials also detailed some of the recent schedule changes and additions from various carriers.

Tri-Cities airport eyes BNA connection
Officials at Tri-Cities Regional Airport are gauging East Tennessee residents about their interest in an air connection to Nashville. The airports were serviced by American Airlines in the 1980s when BNA was a hub for that carrier and were last connected in 2003.
BNA-Tupelo flights still in the cards
Four airlines have applied to provide so-called essential air service to Tupelo Regional Airport. Only one, SeaPort Airlines, says it will connect northeast Mississippi to Nashville International Airport.
Traffic trends holding at BNA
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority this week reported its best November traffic numbers since 2007, with almost 782,000 people getting on or off planes at BNA, up 4.3 percent from 2010. That helped push up fiscal year-to-date gains to 3.6 percent.
