Skidmore, who is neutral on the paper- and forest-products sector, based his call on valuation: LP (Ticker: LPX) has doubled in the past six months.

As we were catching up to SEC documents filed just before Christmas, we saw that Louisiana-Pacific has signed a new financing deal for its Chilean operations. The company last week inked a 10-year, $39 million loan agreement with Banco de Crédito e Inversiones to replace a credit line with a Chilean bank.

D.A. Davidson analyst Steven Chercover raised his rating on the company to 'buy' from 'neutral.'

In its quarterly filing with the SEC, Louisiana-Pacific says it spent $113 million late last month to buy back more than a third of its debt series due in 2017. The company (Ticker: LPX) will take a $21 million charge this quarter to account for the deal.
