Courtnay Hamachek has joined Victor Results Advertising as senior account executive, moving over from the Designory, where she helped launch Nissan's Cube. Before that, she worked at various agencies in Memphis and Nashville.

HCA's ER ad campaign drives admissions

Pali Capital analyst Sheryl Skolnick points out HCA's electronic billboard advertising campaign in several Southern states that posts emergency room wait times. Apparently, the billboards have generated double-digit ER admissions growth — no small matter when the majority of a hospital's admissions stem from the emergency department. TeCoup, a Nashville-based company that sends text-message coupon offers to subscribers, has been bought by a Florida marketing company that sees huge potential in reaching consumers on the go.
Direct-to-cell-phone text-message advertising is the first new advertising medium since the creation of website-based advertising nearly two decades ago. It provides advertisers an unprecedented ability to deliver an ad message in real time to millions of carefully-targeted and receptive double-opt-in cell phone owners.

Nashville's optimistic

A recent survey by the local chapter of the American Marketing Association shows that one in five Middle Tennessee firms will add people in 2010. Respondents also say they're being paid up to 20 percent more than the national average and more than half got bonuses this year. Bohan hires copy chief

Gulch ad shop Bohan has recruited Dave Smith to be associate creative director and copy chief. Smith was most recently associate creative director of McKee Wallwork Cleveland in Albuquerque and also has taught a portfolio class for the Boston Advertising Club while at Hill Holiday in Boston. Among the clients he's worked with are Toys R Us, CVS, First Tennessee Bank and the U.S. Army.
