Two VU buildings land LEED

A pair of building projects handled by Vanderbilt and Gobbell Hays Partners have been awarded LEED credentials for their energy efficiency. The certification of Benson Hall, which houses the university's English and history departments, and a new library archive facility brings VU's LEED tally to 10.

Aquinas professor named institute fellow

Rich Bulzacchelli, a professor of theology at Aquinas College, has been named a senior fellow of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology in Ohio. Bulzacchelli came to Aquinas in 2004.

Belmont names performance watchdog

Belmont University has promoted Paula Gill to associate vice president of institutional effectiveness, a role she will use to evaluate the university's services and processes. Gill has been at Belmont for 15 years and was most recently associate dean of enrollment services. She is a past president of the National Consortium of Continuous Improvement, an organization of almost 100 institutions that identifies and sharing best practices. She earned doctor of education and master of science degrees from the University of Alabama and her bachelor's from Belmont.

Belmont's Buzzy treats

Hot on the heels of the opening of Diana's on Lower Broad comes Buzzy's Candy Store, a sweet shop run by students in Belmont's entrepreneurship program. Promising "Wonka Wazoos, nostalgic Razzles, traditional gummi worms and gourmet chocolates in scoop able candy bins," the store's three managers have set up shop in one of the Belmont Boulevard spaces the university has allotted to student-run businesses.

Lipscomb dean named to biz ethics list

Turney Stevens, the former CEO of Harpeth Cos. and now dean of Lipcomb's business school, has been named to Ethisphere's list of the country's most influential business ethics thinkers. Stevens helped found Lipscomb's Dean Institute for Corporate Governance and Integrity about 18 months ago.
