Nice of them to wait till after Christmas

Now that the infamous holiday traffic has receded, groundbreaking began at The Mall At Green Hills for the long-awaited Nordstrom. The high-end Seattle-based retailer is expected to open the new store August 2010 October 2011. From a presser:
“We are excited to reach this major milestone as The Mall prepares the site location for Nordstrom’s new store at The Mall at Green Hills”, said Hank Woerner, mall manager.  “Not only does this mark the first major department store to be built in Nashville in several years, but it also puts The Mall at Green Hills on the national map as a regional luxury shopping destination.”
The construction of the store and another project — a new parking deck — will require a new traffic pattern around the mall. During the pre-construction phase, the mall's south entrance off Abbott Martin and Bandywood will be closed. The parking deck is accessible from Hillsboro Pike and Abbott Martin, but levels 3, 4 and 5 will be closed until the fall. Everything should be back to normal in time for the 2010 Christmas shopping season.
