Local private bank Truxton Corp. has made a move into Georgia with the opening of an office in Athens and the hiring of two wealth managers there.
Truxton's move into Northeast Georgia is its first physical expansion beyond Harding Road since its founding a decade ago. Leading its expansion effort is Group Vice President and Wealth Advisor Kevin Brodrick, a native of Athens who has spent the last 15 years at Oconee State Bank and SunTrust Bank. Truxton also has recruited Tia Chandler, who had worked at Oconee as well.
"Truxton has deep ties to Northeast Georgia. Our late founding chairman, Don Thurmond, hailed from Madison, Georgia, and Derrick Jones, our Managing Director of Wealth Management, began his career in the Trust Department at SunTrust in Athens," said Truxton President and CEO Tom Stumb. "The Athens area is vibrant and prosperous and we are proud to be part of the community."
Truxton posted a first-quarter profit of almost $1 million, up 27 percent from early 2013, and has assets of about $340 million.
