Regional law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough has recruited a litigation associate from the Nashville office of Burr & Forman as it continues to fill up the One Nashville Place office space it leased last summer.
James Haltom will concentrate his Nelson Mullins work on commercial litigation, real estate, title and mortgage disputes, bankruptcy and creditors' rights claims and financial services. The commissioned Army officer and Operation Iraqi Freedom combat veteran handles cases in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts across Tennessee and had been with Burr since the fall of 2009 . He earned his law degree cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his bachelor's from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The addition of Haltom brings to seven the number of attorneys Nelson Mullins, which is led locally by Larry Papel, has recruited over the past nine months . A year ago, the firm also lured two others from Burr's local office, which has been beefed up recently by attorneys relocating from its other outposts. Nelson Mullins, which was established in 1897, is home to more than 500 attorneys and other professionals and runs offices in seven states and the District of Columbia.
