The Country Music Association has hired a Walt Disney Co. alumnus to oversee its marketing and partnerships efforts.
Damon Whiteside will join the CMA — which this week got a new CEO in Sarah Trahern — on Jan. 6 as senior vice president. He has for the past two years worked as chief marketing officer for brands and talent at Nomad Entertainment Group in Los Angeles. There, he handled a variety of tasks for brand clients as well as artists, producers and songwriters. Nomad’s client roster has included Miley Cyrus, Elton John and Carrie Underwood, among others.
“Damon is a highly-accomplished marketing and branding executive with extensive senior level marketing experience and a proven track record,” said CMA board President Ed Hardy. “We are fortunate to have someone with his executive background from Disney, the No. 1 entertainment brand in the world, in this important leadership position at CMA.”
