Local legal heavyweights Jim Neal and Aubrey Harwell are among the almost 1,400 attorneys from around the country who will be honored next month at a 25th-anniversary Best Lawyers event.
Best Lawyers has published an attorney-rating directory since 1983 and its upcoming will shine the light on the attorneys who have been included in every issue since then.
“The attorneys that we will recognize in Atlanta have not only contributed in an exceptional way to the legal profession, but most of them like Aubrey Harwell and James Neal have also played important civic roles in their communities,” said Steven Naifeh, President and founder of Best Lawyers.
Harwell is the managing partner of Neal & Harwell, which was founded in 1971. A graduate of Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt University School of Law, he specializes in crisis management, white-collar criminal defense work and commercial litigation.
Neal is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, the Vanderbilt University School of Law and Georgetown University School of Law, where he earned a master's degree. He served as Special Assistant to U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy from 1961 to 1964 and gained national attention when he successfully prosecuted Teamster leader James Hoffa for jury tampering.
