On the heels of $3.75 million raised in new venture capital funding, Nashville-based Dalcon Communication Systems has changed its name to Amplion Clinical Communications.
The move reflects the company’s focus on in-patient nurse communications systems.
As part of the TNInvestco program to promote investment in innovative Tennessee businesses, the financing round completed last week was led by Council Capital through its Council & Enhanced Tennessee Fund and Nashville-based Solidus. The TNInvestco arm of Solidus, which is an investor in NashvillePost.com parent Southcomm, had in April invested about $451,000 in Dalcon, whose executives had kept the funding round open.
Amplion plans to use the funds to expand sales of its new technology to hospitals nationwide.
“Amplion is based on the Latin word ‘amplio,’ which means ‘to improve’,” Amplion CEO David Condra said in a release. “That’s exactly what we’re doing. Our model improves the communication of real-time
