Skip Prichard has told Ingram Content Group officials he will leave the publishing services company early next month, ending a five-year tenure inside one of Nashville’s largest private companies.
Prichard has been president and CEO of Ingram Content since its formation in 2009 [2], when various Ingram distribution and technology ventures were reorganized. He had come to the holding company in the summer of 2007 [3] as COO of what was then still Ingram Book Group, having previously led ProQuest Information and Learning.
Prichard will make way June 8 for Chairman John Ingram, who will take over the CEO role on a permanent basis.
Ingram said Prichard has been instrumental in setting up and integrating the Ingram Content organization, which now works in various ways with more than 35,000 retailers, libraries, schools and distributors in more than 200 countries.
“Skip rebranded and refocused our efforts within Ingram Content, and through a well designed strategy, hard work and energetic leadership repositioned our companies to succeed in the fast changing publishing environment,” Ingram said.
Ingram spokesman Keel Hunt said he could not comment on the short, two-week nature of the transition or whether Prichard’s departure his own choice.
Prichard said he plans to do some consulting before hunting for “a new role that will consume me as much as this one has.”
“When John hired me five years ago, he shared his vision and I signed on to make that vision a reality,” Prichard said. “I signed up to accomplish certain goals, and those goals have all been met one by one. With solid positions in all of our markets yielding terrific results, I feel I have accomplished what I set out to do.”
