Vanguard laying off dozens in Chicago

Local hospital chain Vanguard Health Systems continues to tighten its belt as it wraps up 2011. Crain's Chicago Business is reporting that the company laid off almost 100 [2] people at its four Windy City facilities late last month. A spokeswoman said uncertainty with the broader economy and the federal reimbursement environment were the main factors.

The Chicago cuts follow similar moves made in October [3] in Massachusetts and last month [4] in Texas.
