The Nashville Sports Authority voted today to approve changes to the lease at the Sommet Center by the owners of the Nashville Predators and the City of Nashville.
Put forward by Mayor Karl Dean and agreed to by the new local owners of the hockey team, the five-year agreement calls for the city to pay the Preds a $3 million yearly base management fee and a possible $2 million more in incentives.
The dissenting vote against the plan was from Steve North, who argued that he would have preferred language in the lease to be less complex to monitor.
With the Nashville Sports Authority's passage, the new lease will now have to be approved by the Metro Council. The bill is sponsored there by Mike Jameson and is likely to be up for a vote on April 1.
