Construction conglomerate Balfour Beatty is launching its latest endeavor – set to focus on renewable-energy projects – in Nashville.
The company said Balfour Beatty Energy Solutions will be headquartered in Nashville and will provide programs that identify and execute cost-saving renewable energy and energy efficiency projects across the country. The U.K.-based holding company's other local outpost is the former Centex Construction, which it bought in 2007 and which leases [2] about 14,000 square feet near Nashville International Airport.
Tabitha Crawford and Richard Lucy have been tapped to lead BBES. Crawford contributed to the Presidential Climate Action Plan and the two-year-old Institute for Sustainable Practice at Lipscomb University and spent four years as senior vice president of sustainability and innovation at Actus Lend Lease. She also served as the CEO of Military Assistance Co.
Lucy is a CPA who has advised utilities, universities as well as the Department of the Navy, the Air Force, and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations & Environment.
Balfour Beatty also operates Balfour Beatty Communities, a division focused on privatization of military housing – and a direct competitor to Actus – and BBES will begin work focused on improving the energy efficiency of the 44 communities under BBC’s military-housing privatization initiative portfolio.
