Avenue Bank has promoted one of its original employees to chief strategy and marketing officer, a new position at the community bank.
Aaron Dorn has been Avenue's director of concierge banking since 2012, when he returned to the bank after taking a four-year leave of absence to serve as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. In his newly expanded role, Dorn will add all aspects of Avenue's marketing — which has long used a tagline of "The difference is real" and branded itself with a hummingbird — and will work closely with Chairman and CEO Ron Samuels to develop strategies to achieve the bank’s goals.
“Aaron was with us at the very beginning — one of the original 11. He helped us carve a path for a new type of bank in Nashville,” Samuels said. “His depth of knowledge and understanding of our vision and culture is unsurpassed. There couldn’t be a better fit for this new position.”
On the marketing side, Dorn takes over a role previously held by Lisa Meiers, who has moved into a new role as engagement champion, where she will focus on community and employee engagement.

Seven-year-old Avenue recently posted second-quarter profits of $1.2 million and has grown its assets to more than $950 million. The company employs 125 people.
