Becker's recognizes Lovell

Paula Lovell, the founder and CEO of Lovell Communications, Inc., is listed among 24 of the “leading women to know in healthcare” by Becker’s Hospital Review. Becker’s Hospital Review is part of Becker’s Healthcare—a leading source of cutting-edge business and legal information for healthcare industry leaders.

“I am honored to be included among so many accomplished women healthcare leaders,” Lovell said. “This recognition reflects the 26 years our firm has worked in the healthcare sector across the country.”

With a background in journalism, Lovell founded Lovell Communications in 1998. The firm focuses on healthcare public relations, marketing, and crisis communications.


Deane/Smith Launches new brand

Marketing and public relations agency Deane, Smith & Partners has changed its named to Deane/Smith, company officials recently announced.

As part of the change, the company has a new web domain: www.deanesmith.agency

Deane/Smith has had significant growth recently. Last year the agency partnered with Mad Genius, a full-service design, print, digital and video production branding firm, to leverage growing business across the Southeast and throughout the nation. The two firms now have more than 30 employees in four offices nationwide. Deane/Smith also opened a Jackson, office, to better serve its clients in Mississippi’s capitol and across the state.


AMG names Landsman division chief

AMG, a PhyMed Healthcare Group company and one of the largest physician-led anesthesia practices in the U.S., has named Dr. Ira Landsman as division chief of pediatric anesthesia.

“Dr. Landsman is an extremely well qualified physician, and one of only two board certified pediatric anesthesiologists at AMG,” Dr. Michael Stabile, vice president of medical staff at Centennial Medical Center and founding partner of Nashville-based AMG, said in a release. “His expertise will be essential as we continue our work with Centennial on the launch of their children’s hospital.”

Landsman, who previously spent 11 years at Vanderbilt Medical Center as director of the pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, will work closely with Centennial Children’s Hospital to build their neonatology surgery capabilities.


Election Commission promotes Hampton

The Davidson County Election Commission has promoted Carlatina Hampton to manager of support services.

Hampton manages the high school supplemental registration, which set a record during the 2013-14 school year by registering 1,108 high school students as new voters.

Additionally, she oversees the supply warehouse and staff and equipment pick-up and return for all poll officers. Hampton also manages the naturalization voter registration and maintenance of the felon database and Metro records.

Previously, Hampton was a marketing specialist with the customer service program. She joined the Davidson County Election Commission in 1991.

Josephine adds May as pastry chef

12South-based restaurant Josephine has added pastry chef Kayla May to its culinary team.

A graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York City, May was most recently executive pastry chef of Capitol Grille at the Hermitage Hotel.

May’s French-inspired training and modernist techniques combined with an understanding of the region will compliment Josephine’s “refined American farmhouse cuisine,” Andrew Little, Josephine chef and general manager, said in a release.


Smotherman joins Miller Loughry Beach

Kelly Smotherman has joined Miller Loughry Beach Insurance Services as an insurance marketing representative.

Smotherman brings 20 years of industry experience to her role. Before coming to Miller Loughry Beach, she served as a commercial lines account manager at Wade & Egbert Insurance Partners in Nashville and Mobley/Newport Insurance in Murfreesboro.

Smotherman earned a bachelor’s degree in insurance and business administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

Miller Loughry Beach, a subsidiary of Nashville-based Pinnacle Financial Partners, provides insurance solutions, including personal, business and employee benefits.

Zeitlin & Co., Realtors has added Lois Layne as an agent serving Middle Tennessee.

She will work from the Zeitlin Williamson County office.
