Cigna-HealthSpring is exploring options to move more workers to MetroCenter north of downtown, where it has been consolidating its workforce in recent years.
The Medicare Advantage insurer houses about 200 employees at its home office in the Carothers Building in Cool Springs, which is pictured here. Its lease there is for about 32,000 square feet and will expire in December. The Nashville Business Journal reported earlier Friday that the insurer plans to vacate its Carothers Building space for its MetroCenter campus, but an official said it is too early to talk about concrete details.
"We are currently exploring options in MetroCenter to expand our presence so we can consolidate the rest of our Nashville work force in one convenient location, which we believe will contribute to both business effectiveness and enhanced employee culture," said Graham Harrison, director of communications at the insurer. "However, at this time, we have no official plans to announce."
Cigna-HealthSpring operates out of two MetroCenter buildings on Great Circle Road already. The campus totals 175,000 square feet and was built by Southeast Venture and sold to Los Angeles-based Griffin Capital last year. The majority of Cigna-Healthspring's regional workforce — about 1,200 people — is located there, including health plan operations and corporate functions.
