Belmont University announced today it has named Dr. Perry Moulds, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center senior director of development, vice president for development and external relations, effective Aug. 5.
Moulds, who will replace the retiring Dr. Bethel (Bo) Thomas, vice president of university advancement, will oversee BU philanthropic initiatives, including corporate and foundation giving, grants and alumni giving. He also will provide leadership for the university’s marketing and public relations efforts.
Moulds will lead the strategic direction for Belmont’s development, advancement services, alumni relations, marketing and public relations teams as well as manage university special initiatives. In addition, he will facilitate the BU Board of Trust Development Committee and oversee the recruitment and training of volunteer leadership in fundraising efforts.
Previously the regional director of development for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Moulds holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree and a Master of Arts degree from the Higher Education Administration program at the University of Mississippi, where he also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and public relations with a minor in political science. He held several development roles over nine years at the UofM.
“Dr. Moulds is a master at cultivating relationships, creating brand presence and leading higher education fundraising efforts,” BU President Bob Fisher said in a release. “We are extremely excited to welcome such a successful leader to the Belmont community.”
In the release, Moulds said Belmont provides a “world-class learning environment, a dedicated community and a compelling case for philanthropy.”
“In addition to a rich history and solid foundation, Belmont has also generated an amazing upward trajectory that is rare in today’s higher education field,” he said.
