MedCenterDisplay launches mobile app push

Patient engagement company licenses GOBA tech

Patient engagement and marketing company MedCenterDisplay has secured an exclusive worldwide license for native mobile application technology developed by fellow local venture GOBA as it looks to branch into the mobile space.

MedCenterDisplay execs say the license lets them immediately develop branded smartphone apps for hospitals and other health care organizations on both the iOS and Android platforms. The agreement with GOBA also allows them to create derivative works and integrate the software into MedCenterDisplay's current applications.

"We are excited to have executed this license agreement with GOBA," said President Jim Aylward. "This immediately puts MedCenterDisplay in a very competitive market position. MedCenterDisplay will be able to develop custom, branded mobile applications in days, not months. The hospital mobile app market is nascent with only about 200 hospitals out of nearly 6,000 hospitals offering a mobile app to their patients."

The GOBA move comes about four months after Aylward was tapped to lead MedCenterDisplay. At the time, CEO Gregg Tarquinio said a push into apps was in the offing.
