Captain D's adds franchising exec

Sonic alum to focus on Midwest markets

Captain D's has beefed up its development team with an executive who was most recently at Sonic Corp.

Lori Osley has joined Nashville-based Captain D's as senior director of franchise development and will focus on the seafood chain's Midwest target markets, which include Texas, Oklahoma and Texas. She had spent more than eight years at Sonic and before that was with Fleming Company.

"The company has built a solid foundation for its franchisees, which is why so many sought-after prospects engage the brand," Osley said. "I hope to capitalize on the relationships that I have built during my tenure and offer a diversification portfolio to folks in the burger, pizza and sandwich category."

Osley's hiring is the second major addition to the Captain D's franchising team. Late last year, the company brought on Mark Levis, a veteran of the franchising industry who had previously worked at Papa Murphy's and Roosters Men's Grooming Centers, among others. Levis is focusing on the Carolinas and Georgia, which are among the company's focus markets for growth. (See map at right.)

In addition to building its franchisee base — one restaurant industry veteran has signed to build out the Houston market — the Captain D's leadership team also is growing its corporate-owned restaurants. In September, the company will open its first new owned location in seven years when it cuts the ribbon on a store in Five Points, Alabama, located east of Birmingham.

"To achieve our goals, we needed to grow our development team," Captain D's Chief Development Officer Michael Arrowsmith said. "Lori is an outstanding franchise development expert, and she will help us take Captain D's to the next level."
