HCA affiliate HealthTrust has acquired analytics assets and other operations from an Atlanta data and consultation company.
Through its deal for Cardiac Data Solutions, the terms of which are not being disclosed, HealthTrust has bought solutions providing analytics, clinical benchmarks, consultation services, peer-reviewed research and best practice tools. HealthTrust will rebrand Cardiac Data's services as part of SourceTrust, its medical device sourcing and consulting services arm. The analytics will be offered in the cardiovascular, orthopedic and spine service lines, and the company plans to build a solutions database for hospital operators.
"Increasingly, providers are requesting help in the area of clinical data analysis and benchmarking as they address all dimensions of cost management," said Ed Jones, CEO of HealthTrust, which is part HCA's Parallon services group. "CDS uses clinical and operational data to allow physicians and hospital leaders to make more informed decisions to improve clinical and financial outcomes. By comparing hospital and clinical data to national and regional benchmarks, service providers are able to obtain actionable data which can be used to improve the quality of care provided to patients and reduce costs and lengths of stay."
