Brookdale Senior Living and state officials today announced the company will undertake a $2.1 million expansion of its Brentwood-based corporate headquarters, a move expected to result in 162 new jobs over the course of the next five years.
In a release, the state did not disclose the dollar value of any incentives it might have offered Brookdale.
Brookdale, which owns and operates approximately 650 communities senior living communities in 36 states serving about 66,000 residents, employs more than 375 people at its Maryland Farms corporate headquarters.
In February, the company announced an intent to merge, in a deal valued at about $2.8 billion, during the third quarter with Emeritus Corp. Following the merger (read more here) later this year, Brookdale will have more than 1,100 senior living communities in 46 states, including within the nation’s 30 largest metropolitan areas. The company will be able to serve more than 112,000 seniors and offer a workforce of more than 80,000.
“In 2009, Brookdale employed less than 200 corporate associates at our Brentwood location and we’ve grown over the years to what will be more than 500 people,” Andy Smith (pictured), Brookdale chief executive officer, said in the release. “Our corporate team here is focused on supporting our communities across the country so [that] residents receive outstanding services and care every day. We look forward to bringing on board even more associates who have a passion for serving seniors and supporting our communities.”
