LP names VP of OSB

Former IP, Georgia-Pacific manager joined company in '06

Louisiana-Pacific has promoted Jamey Barnes to vice president of its oriented strand board operations, which have an annual production capacity of almost 5.8 billion square feet.

Barnes, 63, joined LP in 2006 as Eastern Region OSB manager and has served a variety of roles with the company, most recently as director of OSB operations since 2008. The OSB segment accounted for $1.1 billion of LP's 2013 revenues of $2.1 billion.

"This promotion is well-deserved," said LP OSB Executive Vice President Jeff Wagner. "Jamey's extensive background in managing wood products manufacturing and his impressive leadership abilities have helped LP continue to be the world's leading OSB producer even when times are tough."

Barnes has more than 37 years of experience in the wood products business. Prior to joining downtown-based LP, he held management positions at International Paper and Georgia-Pacific. He holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Arkansas.

Barnes will oversee operations at LP's 11 OSB facilities operating in North America. Five of those are in Canada, with the remaining plants in Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina and Texas. LP's network of plants produced 4.1 billion square feet of OSB in 2013, which the company estimates accounted for 24 percent of the total North American market.
