Clinic company Urgent Team this week said it has raised $5.3 million from an investor group.
In documents filed with the SEC, the Nashville-based company said it secured the funding from nine unnamed investors. Formed in 2011, the three-year-old venture was previously known as WellNow Urgent Care and transitioned its brand to Urgent Team last September. Company officials could not be reached for comment about their capital raise.
Urgent Team operates nine clinics in Mississippi and Tennessee, with two of those being in Springfield and Murfreesboro. Founded by Kevin Cross, formerly of Touchstone Medical, the company is now led by CEO Tom Dent, a veteran of PhyCor and numerous other ventures. In 2012, the company raised $35 million in capital and anticipated building out to 50 locations by 2017.
