Health care consultants acquire HL7 toolset

Acquisition will assist company in data aggregation and integration

Health care consulting firm WPC announced it has acquired a software toolset for data processing from Illinois-based Prosch Consulting.

The acquired assets focus on HL7, or health level seven, an international standard for electronic health records integration. Through WPC's acquisition, terms of which were not disclosed in a release, the Brentwood-based company will assist clients in integrating clinical data, promoting health information exchange and enabling care coordination.

"We were interested in this toolset because our customers continue to request our assistance to consolidate and better understand clinical data," said Ray Guzman, WPC senior vice president. "This transaction allows us to integrate clinical data significantly faster."

Lee Prosch, president of Prosch Consulting, said in a statement the company expected WPC to make "a pretty big dent" in the data aggregation space. WPC set up shop locally in 2008.
