BlueCross names president and CEO of Onlife

Former VP of strategy returns to lead insurer's wellness company

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has announced it has named Danny Timblin to serve as president and CEO of Onlife Health, the insurer's wellness company.

Timblin joined BlueCross in 2006 overseeing strategic investments and acquisitions. He later served as director of strategic services and vice president and treasurer and was also part of the original team that guided BlueCross' strategic relationship with Onlife. In late 2011, Timblin was named vice president of strategy and execution, but he left the insurer in the spring of last year to be CFO of enterprise software maker NaviNet.

"Danny is a highly engaged, proactive leader who is deeply committed to Onlife's wellness mission," BlueCross CFO John Giblin said in a release. "He is a talented strategic thinker who also excels at tactical execution — a rare quality that will be important as he leads Onlife in expanding and enhancing its service capabilities."

Prior to joining BlueCross the first time, Timblin held positions at Lucent Technologies, OFS Fitel and Deutsch Bank. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from the University of Kansas and an MBA from Georgia State University.
