BGA hires director of advancement

Education industry official to arrive from Philadelphia-based academy

Battle Ground Academy has announced the appointment of Tom Evans as its director of advancement.

Evans (pictured), who will begin his work for the 2014-15 academic year, joins BGA from Philadelphia-based Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. There, he has served as the director of alumni relations from 2010 to present. Evans has about 20 years of experience in the private school development field.

As BGA director of advancement, Evans will oversee the Franklin-based private school’s development, admissions, alumni relations and communications. He will lead the school’s development staff and report to Will Kesler, who begins his work as BGA head of school on July 1 (read more here).

“We are excited to bring someone with Tom's experience and track record for success into our advancement office,” Kesler said in a release. “A graduate of an independent school himself and a parent of independent school students, Tom understands schools like BGA from all angles and will be a great addition to our leadership team.”

At SCH, Evans helped navigate the merger of single-gender independent schools Springside School and Evans’ alma mater, Chestnut Hill Academy. Previously, Evans served as director of development at Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, Fla., and The Latin School of Chicago, where he oversaw a $50 million capital campaign.
