Score another for Nashville’s scorching start-up scene.
A Silicon Valley firm that helps build early-stage technology companies has opened a Nashville office and teamed with a local group that includes the former CEO of PassAlong Networks.
Crestlight Venture Productions has joined forces with Nashville-based Fivestone Corporate Ventures to dig up and develop promising local concepts. The partnership will do business as Crestlight, which runs other offices in Silicon Valley, Chicago, Atlanta and Bangalore, India. The Nashville office is being run by Jozef Nuyens (pictured) — who launched Fivestone in early 2010 after moving on from PassAlong — as well as fellow Managing Partners Brad Edmonson and Stayko Staykov.
“We’re thrilled to team up with Fivestone and excited to expand our reach into the Southeast,” said David Borlo of Crestlight. “Nashville is on the rise and we’ve been watching how the state of Tennessee has stepped up its efforts to champion the startup community throughout Tennessee and the Southeast.”
The Crestlight crew markets both pre-investment services such as strategic and financial planning and advisory councils as well as post-investment consulting on leadership, marketing and exit preparation. (More info here.) Nuyens said the Crestlight collaboration came about after both firms worked on the same company in Silicon Valley. Their combined team comprises more than 30 global executives focused on finding and managing investments.
