Lipscomb appoints two high-level officials

Ex-Waller partner named GC, Spark leader tapped to be VP of external affairs

Lipscomb University announced today the appointments of David Wilson as general counsel and John Lowry as vice president of external affairs.

Wilson (on the right in picture) will oversee legal affairs and compliance for the university, taking over the spot held by Phil Ellenburg, who was named president of Middle Tennessee Christian School last year. A former partner at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, he specializes in corporate governance, business transactions and securities law. He had worked at Waller since 1998 and will begin his work at Lipscomb later this month.

Lowry (pictured left), the executive director of Lipscomb's Spark Ideas Center in Franklin, will lead community and government relations as well as develop growth into new markets. He joined the Lipscomb faculty in 2009 as assistant dean for executive education and assistant professor of management. Since then, he has launched the School of Executive Education and the Certificate in Accountancy Program and built Spark.

"Both David and John bring vast experience as attorneys as well as a passion for Christian education to the leadership team that will give the university great security in a time when the higher education environment is in constant flux," Randy Lowry, Lipscomb University's president, said in a release.
