Emdeon hires CFO-in-waiting

Newport to transition out in two months

Health care revenue management company Emdeon announced Monday the appointment of Randy Giles as executive vice president of finance with a plan to transition into the CFO chair.

After a two-month transition period, Emdeon's current CFO, Bob Newport Jr., will leave the company to pursue other interests, according to a press release. Giles, 55, will then assume the CFO role.

Previously, Giles served as executive vice president, CFO and treasurer of insurer Coventry Health Care, which was acquired last year by Aetna. He spent about three years at Coventry and before that held several executive positions during a 14-year career at UnitedHealthcare.

The announcement follows Emdeon's September CEO appointment of Neil de Crescenzo, who replaced former CEO George Lazenby.
