The local call center IT giant Dell runs will soon begin providing service desk support to the General Services Administration as part of a $37.1 million contract.
Dell's site near Nashville International Airport will share the GSA support work with the company's service center in Oklahoma City for the next five years. The centers are handling the contract through prime contractor AAC, and Dell officials said their contributions will help the government agency "save money and operate its IT more effectively."
Dell works in one way or another with 95 percent of federal agencies. It is not clear how many Nashville-area workers will contribute to the new GSA contract. A few years ago, Dell's local call center workforce numbered 1,800.
