Cumberland Consulting promotes two principals

Health care tech management company employees to serve as partners

Cumberland Consulting Group announced Monday the promotions of Greg Varner (left) and Mike Penich (right) to partners.

The two had served the Nashville-based health care technology management firm as principals.

Penich has been with Cumberland Consulting since 2004 and specializes in project management, systems analysis and design. Varner is a registered nurse with more than 22 years of experience in clinical health care delivery.

"Adding Mike and Greg to our leadership team will help us reach our strategic growth goals, while continuing to provide exceptional service to our clients," Jim Lewis, managing partner and CEO of Cumberland, said in a press release. "Mike has made significant contributions to Cumberland's success in complex technology implementations over the past decade and will continue to do so as partner. Greg will be instrumental in leading our efforts to expand our offerings to post-acute care providers."

Cumberland Consulting has about 175 employees and rang up 2012 revenues of $36 million. The company late last year acquired the life sciences consulting unit of New Jersey-based Mindlance.
