LP CFO named to board of Fortune 500 manufacturer

Bailey's initial term runs through next spring

The directors of General Cable Corp. have appointed Sallie Bailey, the CFO of Louisiana-Pacific, an independent director of the copper, aluminum and fiber optic wire and cable manufacturer.

Bailey, who was named CFO at Nashville-based LP in late 2011, has a term on General Cable's board that expires next spring and will serve on the group's audit, compensation and governance committees. She becomes the seventh board member at General Cable, which is based in Northern Kentucky.

“We are very pleased to have Sallie join the General Cable Board of Directors,” said Jack Welsh, non-executive chairman of General Cable. “Sallie brings to our Board a record of achievement in finance and risk management, a solid understanding of industrial markets and a reputation for sound judgment that will complement our Board and benefit both the stockholders and management of General Cable."

Before joining LP, Bailey was CFO at specialty materials company Ferro Corp. and held various executive positions at bearings and steel maker Timken.

General Cable last year posted a profit of $3.7 million on sales of $6 billion. The company (Ticker: BGC) operates 56 plants around the world, 25 of which are in North America.
