Truxton lures Mastrapasqua principal

Son of Kirkland's founder spent more than decade as asset manager

Truxton Trust, the former Nashville Bank & Trust, has beefed up its wealth management unit with the hiring of a longtime Mastrapasqua Asset Management portfolio manager.

Miles Kirkland joins Truxton as vice president and portfolio manager. He had been with Mastrapasqua, where he was principal and portfolio manager, since 2000 and managed a number of equity portfolios at the firm, which manages about $530 million.

“In addition to Miles' extraordinary qualifications as a portfolio manager, he has a genuine desire to serve the clients of Truxton Trust,” said Derrick Jones, managing director of Truxton Trust. “We are excited to have him join our team of client-centered wealth management professionals.”

Kirkland is a son of Carl Kirkland, who founded the eponymous home goods chain more than 40 years ago. He has been a director of Kirkland’s since 2008.

Truxton Trust has about $300 million in total assets and earned $716,000 in the first quarter of this year. That was up 23 percent from early 2012.
