FirstBank launches big mortgage push

Execs relocating from West Tennessee, Alabama plan to hire more than 10 in 'near future'

The mortgage lending arm of FirstBank has relocated a handful of top executives to Cool Springs and plans to hire nearly a dozen people in the coming months.

FirstBank Mortgage Partners has opened a 9,000-square-foot regional corporate office at 318 Seaboard Lane in Cool Springs (pictured), down the street from where it formerly ran a full-service branch that moved to Aspen Grove last year. The company now houses 21 execs, mortgage bankers and underwriters there but says it wants to grow that number to more than 30 “in the near future.”

Officials at FirstBank Mortgage Partners say they see big mortgage lending growth opportunities in the Nashville area. To that end, Wib Evans, FirstBank’s chief administrative officer is moving here from Lexington, Tenn., while Don Holsinger, president of FirstBank Mortgage Partners, is relocating from the company’s Jackson, Tenn., office. (Evans, who has been with FirstBank since 1987, also is president of its FirstBank Ventures unit, which includes mortgage and investments services.)

“FirstBank Mortgage Partners has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, and establishing a corporate office in Williamson County where senior managers can work together will help us continue to grow,” Holsinger said.

Also moving to Cool Springs are Comptroller Bryan Morelli and Capital Markets Manager Michael Metee, who have been working from FirstBank Mortgage Partners’ Birmingham office. Gregg Murphy, FBMP Mortgage Banking Regional Manager for Tennessee, and Gayle Kindig, who joins FBMP as Regional Tennessee Operations Manager, are leading the local operations in Cool Springs.

FirstBank, which is now led by Chris Holmes, has been aggressively growing its local operations in the past year and change, adding senior executives and offices around the region. As of June 2012, the lender ranked 14th in deposit market share with 1.1 percent of the market.
