J. Alexander’s gets first COO

First GM of original restaurant promoted at recently formed holding company

The holding company formed earlier this year to run the J. Alexander’s and Stoney River Legendary Steak concepts, has named one of its longest-serving executives to be its first chief operating officer.

Mike Moore was recently promoted from vice president of human resources and administration at J. Alexander’s LLC, which runs a total of 40 restaurants in 14 states. Moore, 53, joined the company’s predecessor in 1991 from Brinker International to be general manager of the first J. Alexander’s location in Nashville. He has since been repeatedly promoted.

“Mike has been instrumental in the development of the J. Alexander’s collection since its formation,” said President and CEO Lonnie Stout. “He has been an integral part of our management team for more than 22 years and will have expanded responsibilities for Human Resources and Operations of J. Alexander’s LLC. He also has senior management duties involving the continued integration of our Stoney River operations.”

J. Alexander’s LLC was formed early this year by Fidelity National Financial, the Florida-based holding company that last year acquired J. Alexander’s as well as — via its majority-owned American Blue Ribbon Holdings subsidiary — O’Charley’s Inc., which owned Stoney River. The business now generates about $200 million in sales annually and could be spun out of Fidelity National once it adds some scale.
