State unemployment rate rises

Mark moves to 8.3% from 8%

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported today the state's unemployment rate for May was 8.3 percent, an increase from the April revised rate of 8 percent.

By comparison, the national unemployment rate for May was 7.6 percent, an increase of .10 compared to the April mark.

The state's 2.76 million non-farm employed is a record.
