Former Tennessean exec buys Lebanon's Main Street Newspapers

Advertising VP leaves Gannett for the 'burbs

Long-time Tennessean vice president of advertising Dave Gould has purchased Main Street Newspapers, a Lebanon-based publisher of three suburban-newspapers.

Main Street owns the twice-weekly Wilson Post and the weekly Gallatin News and Hendersonville Standard. Gould spent 23 years with Gannett, including the last 11 at 1100 Broadway.

"I am very optimistic about the future of community newspapers," Gould said in a press release. "As long as we stay close to our readers and give them news and information that interests them and impacts their lives, then we will be very successful. Nowhere is this truer than in places like Wilson and Sumner counties."

Sam Hatcher, long a fixture in newspapers in Wilson County, started Main Street after leaving The Lebanon Democrat. Hatcher had been acting as publisher for the papers and, it appears, will remain with Main Street in some capacity.

Dennis Richardson, senior affiliate with W. B. Grimes & Co, represented Main Street Media in the transaction.
