Two veterans join Callahan Witherington

Ex-Adams and Reese partner, Cumberland Trust attorney make move

The young law firm of Callahan Witherington has added two experienced attorneys to its estate planning group.

Joe Goodman has come over from Adams and Reese, where he focused on wealth planning, tax, estate planning and family business matters for more than 30 years. He is a licensed CPA as well as a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a fellow of the Family Firm Institute.

Elizabeth Betts Hickman comes to two-year-old Callahan Witherington after working most of last year at Russ Cook & Associates in Maryland Farms. Before that, she spent more than six years at Cumberland Trust & Investment Co. She also is a book author and magazine writer and a former home and style editor at The Tennessean.

"We are a young firm, but we are fortunate to be growing and adding resources to our estate and trust practice,” said firm co-founder David Callahan. "With the addition of Joe and Elizabeth, we are able to better handle the estate and trust issues and family business needs that we are seeing so much of in this day and age."
